Winner Performance: March 29, 2025 at 7:30 PM
WHAT: The Hershberger Young Artists Competition is an annual concerto/aria competition for high school students who reside within the parameters of Ponca City and Vinita, west to east, and Independence, KS to Skiatook, OK, north to south. The winner(s) earn a $500 prize and the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Bartlesville Symphony on their March main stage concert at the Bartlesville Community Center.
WHEN: Applications will be due January 5, 2025 with the competition auditions taking place on January 12, 2025. The winner(s) will be featured on the March 29, 2025 Bartlesville Symphony concert.
WHO: The high school competition is open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12 in the 2024-25 year. Students must reside within the parameters of Ponca City and Vinita, west to east, and Independence, KS to Skiatook, OK, north to south. Students must also receive private instruction on their instrument/voice.

Past Young artist competitions
The winners of the 2020-21 Young Artist Competition were Joyce Yang and Carlie Poole. Carlie performed the aria “Ah, je veux vivre” from Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet and Joyce performed Diversions for piano (left hand) and orchestra, Op. 21 by Benjamin Britten.
The 2019-20 Young Artist Competition winners were vocalist Stone Yang and flutist Brooke Oliver. Yang sang “Largo al Factotum” by composer Gioachino Rossini and Oliver performed Mozart’s Concerto in D Major.
